So either we cut these services too and go into a full on shutdown or we open up the economy again because the virus isn’t going anywhere with these “essential” places still open.
These are barebones services, and most are essential to keep what we have up and running.

You really think that makes a difference to the virus? “Oh I’ll just stay out of these grocery stores.”

This “shutdown” is a joke and we need to open up the economy ASAP. South Korea flattened the curve without these draconian measures and we can do it too.

You really think doctors will continue helping the sick when the economy collapses? They have mortgages and kids to feed too.

“Sorry Doctor the economy collapsed so we can’t pay you, but you’ll have to risk your life to save more people for free.”

If we had the Millions of tests 2 weeks back when promised and anyone could get tested....well, then, we might be able to get some stuff open again.

But we don't.

If you are going to compare to SK, you have to go all the way.

Also, their cases were largely from on Christian group. Vastly smaller area and easier to test and quarantine.

If we can do the numbers job they did I am with you. But we can't. Not even close.

That's just silly - with the Admin talking up to 4 TRILLION dollars...and I've even heard higher number, don't you think Doctors are gonna get paid???

I assume insurance companies are on the hook for big bucks, right? Are they not gonna pay?

Don't be silly. You fancy yourself a "scholar" at least use basic Main Street sense...

Why not? Economy is more important than people.
If COVID ends up with the average 1% mortality rate eventually or so - it will be just 3300000 million dead in the US alone - 10% of them healthcare workers.

Well, that is not good- we need our healthcare workers- we already are importing them from India, Philippines, due to a lack of our own.

It would be better if we just shut down all the hospitals so they can stay clean and not contaminated by the virus and ask all the healthcare workers to stay home for a while- for their own safety.

Or better yet - just station a National Guard at the hospitals and would not let any people with fever and breathing problems enter - then we don’t even have to shut down the hospitals at all.
Just pass 1 little law- people suspected with COVID are not admitted- you are SOL

Then we just let the rest of the people die- some of them are old and with the diseases anyway..
Good for funeral business
Good for SSA finances.
Real estate may be cheaper- that one is a toss between the homeowners and not.
Waste management will be booming too- we need someone to scoop up those falling over - breathless- like in some French New Wave movie...
Don’t really see a downside, do you?
The economy is back, doctors& nurses are alive, the sick and some healthy people are dead- but only 3300000!
Let’s vote!
Onto elections!

Says the person who wants to collapse the economy over a 98% survival rate virus, oh the irony. Don’t play dumb.

You don’t burn down the house to get rid of a roach infestation.

Maybe you enjoy being unemployed but there are millions out there who don’t.
