As China is a major contributor of campaign financing to key democratic Senators and Congresswomen, most likely there is no end in sight.

The vaccine came out after the 2nd wave, not the 1st wave.

From the looks of things today, it seems their influence has faded.
Well, there were about 3,800 Mormons in all of California in 1920. Since, at that time, San Francisco had a population of around 500,000, he may have been overstating the Mormons' control by just a tad.

From what I have read the Hong Kong flu was not a totally new strain. Lots of people had immunity to it and it was easier to create a vaccine.

It's my understanding the overwhelming majority of the time on vaccine development is in the testing process, so I'm not sure how existing immunity or not a new strain has much impact.

Saw this bit of drivel and had to google some. Guess what I found?

With advice from Republican power lawyer Charlie Spies, APIC, a company owned by Chinese nationals, donated $1.3 million to Jeb Bush’s Super PAC. ... ... six days after the Supreme Court lifted restrictions on corporate money in U.S. elections with its January 21, 2010, ruling in Citizens United...

As someone who works in research (Medical) I can tell you not all vaccinations work in protecting their recipient.

Why? Well buckle your seatbelts arm chair quarterbacks:

1] The population studies simply do not take in ALL human genotypes. It is almost completely impossible to do so in the current year. Long gone are the days when most of us were a homogeneous species. We have inter-bred with various human genotypes different then are own. While I find nothing wrong with this and actually support natural selection fully, it makes research in vaccine and pharmaceutical development more complex. There is an old saying “ You have the gene(s) you can develop the drug, vaccine..what have you. It is way more complicated than this eight grade explanation...but you get the drift.

This is why genetic tests are performed on many Cancer patients prior to receiving treatments. If you don’t have the particular genetic pathways, certain treatment modalities will not work on you, while other modalities will.

This type of testing is often used in selecting treatment modalities for depression, bipolar disorders and other conditions which require the use of Nootropics.

Another issue is that no matter what strains are used in the current influenza vaccine, the
Virus mutates with each new host exposure. This is the survival mechanism of the pathogen and it happens in every virus or other infectious agent. Remember how hard it was to deal with AID regardless of the fact that the virus would not live outside of its human host for over 60 seconds.

So I hate to be the bearer of bad news but the Final solution is the Herd acquiring immunity
.
Regarding the weak among us? If they have a chronic illness they should be proactive and know how to protect themselves.

More later low battery

Good stuff Yankee.

I say let's get out there and let this thing run it's course. All the weak people with their self-inflicted diseases best hide in their homes. Many will die fairly soon anyway, COVID or otherwise.

Survival of the fittest. Let's GO!

The survival of the fittest wasn’t exactly where I was heading when I lost charge...more along the lines of learning to deal with your particular set of conditions. If you are elderly and frail, please do stay home and let those who are not in such conditions deliver your groceries, provide telemedicine etc.

Please be thankful to these people extending you a hand and please do not act entitled. These people are trying to retain their employment. They need to pay their bills, and something else you might not have taken into consideration: The younger generations withholding tax is what finances your SSI, along with any other government benefit that you might be eligible to receive.

This is not a backhanded statement, but a cold hard fact. Let them get back to work, while you shelter in place.

As an aside, there are many people in this country who could take better care of their health. The US is not just overweight but quite often morbidly obese. This leads one down the rabbit hole to type two diabetes ( which typically is a manifestation of a poor lifestyle choices, lack of exercise and too many carbs and sugars in the diet) This further leads to High BP, sleep apnea, cognitive decline and lung and heart disease. All of the listed conditions make COVID more likely to set up housekeeping in your lungs or heart.

These are first world conditions and be rectified via sensible changes in lifestyle. Especially via exercise.

BTW, Mrs. YIB is considered to be in a vulnerable population, as I have a genetic immune deficiency. One out of 500K rare manifestation. But we are taught that we need to take responsibility for our health by our immunologist and other specialists based on our particular situation
.
I avoid large crowds at the mall ( like those at Christmas and such) pursued a field of study that isolated from the practice of medicine ( constantly exposed to sick people is not in my best interests) and just generally run in the shadows, so to speak.

I was taught at quite a young age that while pursuing academics, I would receive some accommodations to help my studies should I fall ill, but it was my job to figure out where and how I would fit into the system....a system which can often be brutal. I was careful who I married, making sure than he understood the ramifications of my condition and how it might effect childbearing and long term work goals. I was told that living to age 60 was a gift, and that I should strive for that.

Well, by taking care of myself, I am here at age 58 typing this...research has progressed and we now often live a full life expectancy. It has been a tough ride on my marriage, but the SO is as healthy as a horse, so it is often hard for him to relate....I take him to a conference regarding the condition from time to time. Once the genetic manifestations were understood, I had no further problems.

They refer to us as “ Zebras” because we stand out. Actually by learning to understand that meaning, we actually learn to take responsibility and fit in quite successfully.

Not true.

Gunnison Colorado.

Their local paper out up an article on it in 2018 you can find online. They quarantined the town and nobody died.

Few others I've read about too.
