How do you get your stimulus check?

I read this article, and you dont have to apply. Govt will automatically do it. Which means, they will miss a lot of people. Also its suppose to be $2tril. And max is suppose to be $1200/person. If say population is 400mil, than most we need is about $480bil, but of course not everyone is getting that. Household with kids will get $500/kid. Couples will get pretty much the same per person. If you earn in income, over certain amount you will get nothing.

Seems like $2tril is a bit excessive. I have not found any articles regarding businesses getting stimulus.

Anyone hear anything about business.

I just worried govt missed me. What if you own assets? How will that count against you getting free money?

They're sending payments to (1) all taxpayers that qualify that have filed in 2018 or 2019, or (2) Social Security recipients or Railroad retirees that aren't included in group (1).

If somehow you don't make it into these 2 categories and you qualify for a payment, you can still get the money by filing a 2020 tax return and claiming the refundable credit.

I think it's a 2019 tax return. Since we are barely thru the first quarter of 2020 .

Otherwise the stimulus package amount also included bailing out the airlines and funding states with lower funds in unemployment pay structure . Since some states are clearly undercutting a citizen in compensation. I can't imagine only getting 25% of my regular income ...yet some states do.just that.

Other parts of this stimulus will help small business...

The credit is available on the 2020 tax return. Payments being received now will reduce the amount of the credit allowed on the 2020 tax return.

Here's the statute

SEC. 6428. 2020 RECOVERY REBATES FOR INDIVIDUALS.
(a) IN GENERAL.—In the case of an eligible individual, there shall be allowed as a credit against the tax imposed by subtitle A for the first taxable year beginning in 2020 an amount equal to the sum of...

Non-Filers: Enter Your Payment Info Here
If you don’t file taxes, use the "Non-Filers: Enter Your Payment Info Here" application to provide simple information so you can get your payment.

You should use this application if:

You did not file a 2018 or 2019 federal income tax return because your gross income was under $12,200 ($24,400 for married couples). This includes people who had no income. Or
You weren’t required to file a 2018 or 2019 federal income tax return for other reasons
If you receive these benefits, we already have your information and you will receive $1,200. Do not use this application if you receive:

Social Security retirement benefits
Social Security Disability Insurance benefits
Railroad Retirement and Survivor Benefits
Special note: People in these groups who have qualifying children under age 17 can use this application to claim the $500 payment per child.

He’s talking about someone who is UNDER the income limits in 2020. The taxpayer files Tax year 2020 app in 2021 to receive a refundable credit for the $1,200.
