I will not be looking for status. If/when it shows up it does. I think looking is like the day trader mentality, checking the stock market every hour. Status checking will not make the payment come any faster.
"Get My Payment cannot update bank account information after an Economic Impact Payment has been scheduled for delivery. To help protect against potential fraud, the tool also does not allow people to change bank account information already on file with the IRS"
Sadly they don't say what to expect to happen in a case like this. I would be guessing that the old bank will reject the deposit, resulting in a paper check later. I feel for those who also changed mailing address.
I did receive a refund this year and provided direct deposit. Yet, the "Get my payment" portal states they don't have this information on file. I asked a group of friends of mine who use accountants, and at least one accountant warned against giving the bank information. He suggested to wait for it in the mail.
When would it be sent for those who have direct deposit info on file? Haven’t gotten anything yet.
