The US postal office is doing fine.

Trump wants to privatize it so he and his vultures can make money from it.

It isn't broken. He wants to break it.

Have them deliver Mon., Wed. and Fri. only pick up everyday that the red flag is up. We do not need Sat. Down town could have delivery and Pick up Mon. -Sat. Also only have 1 union not 3 and you work 40 hours a week. not 8 a day off in 4 paid for 8.

Might want to reduce residential delivery to maybe 3 days a week. Hell my carrier only zips through about that often anyway.
Trump says is about as worthless an opening statement would can have. He doesn’t have a clue on so many things it’s unbelievable

The money is in package services.

It is constitutionally mandated, and is never supposed to 'make a profit' It is a service to ALL citizens.

WHat they could do is reduce the weight limits on the flat rate boxes frmo 70 lbs to about 30lbs. ABove that weight it would be zoned.

Also need to charge extra for those who need to come in to the PO with a package and need extra service.

And couldn't spell 'clue' with a box of quarter pounders as incentive.

I don't think I could get more than about 30 pounds in any flat rate box short of shipping a brick of U238. Even things like coated-paper books aren't that dense. And all parcel shipping other than flat rate is zoned and by weight (and volume, when it exceeds certain density limits).

They already do. Postage on USPS.com is significantly cheaper than over the counter. And if someone walks in with something they just bought for Junior off at college, they're charged for both the box and the sealing tape.

The PO stopped being "endless service for the price of a stamp" quite a while ago.

Frankly, I don't care if the post office is losing money. The cushy postal jobs that paid really well are going or gone. I'm fine paying taxes to keep what's there open. It's useful.

Their losses are huge though...maybe 1-3 Joint Strike Fighters a year.

I wonder how much a 1oz First Class letter will cost to mail new year? Should one buy Forever stamps now or begin using them in case the USPS is privatized and the new contractor does not accept Forever stamps?

If first class packages and priority quadrupled in cost Fedex and UPS would get all the business. That would be the end of USPS. Its time for the feds to get out of the delivery business. Makes no sense in 2020. It did make sense in 1820.

The USPS is being targeted by tRump in an attempt to cripple it so that voting by mail won't be possible. He believes that voting by mail will increase participation and threaten his reelection.
Apparently he doesn't feel his raging incompetence is a factor.

No, the orangeoutang is absolutely right: universal vote by mail would never elect anyone from his party again. Which is exactly as it should be.

We need two parties, but the GOP is so thoroughly rotten and corrupted it needs to be buried at a crossroads with a stake through its heart, that those who genuinely oppose leftist/progressive policies can do so with meaningful policies and arguments. You know, kind of like the GOP before about 1980.

That he recognizes the threat means he has at least two brain cells. That he openly talked about it as a strategy/tactic/threat to his base... I can't draw an ASCII graphic with a chin dropped far enough here.

But yes, if a national postal service needs any special reason to exist, this is a good one.
