This woman says we're in the era of "Surveillance Capitalism". This was a good documentary, but I don't think it went far enough. It didn't cover--at all--how much data the government has on us. So I'd say we're in the era of Surveillance, period.

All of us can be tracked by our phone locations, our web browsing, our facebook likes, our online purchases, our phone calls and email communications. We have to register our cars, we carry homeowners or renters insurance. Our wages are tracked with SS#. Our utility usage is on file, our court records are publicly available. Pharmacies and doctors offices are linked through medical insurance. There are cameras everywhere, and facial recognition is a nascent reality.
Other than the appearance of token resistance, what difference does it make if you pay for a burger with cash vs charge?
