defense budget went up every year Obama was President, what does Trump have to do with it?

That is the problem with Trumpers and Trump. They are fine spending our tax money like drunken Democrats.
Since 2009 people managing the major economies are all embracing Modern Monetary Theory (MMT). MMT allows unlimited debt expansion with the sole goal of maximizing employment. All other issues (deficits, inflation, natural disasters, etc.) are handled by...more debt. Politicians like Trump, Abe, Xi, etc. naturally love this scheme.

Forget about balanced budgets and “paying down the national debt” — these ideas will never be seen again in the halls of power.

The invasion of d day was costly but to let the third Reich continue would have cost far more
Trump primary platform was the wall - he had to give congress something to get it -more pork barrel projects deficit spending but
Worth it
The wall is half done
Once finished you will see the welfare spigot shut down
And probably armed border military conflict

I think the future will see both Mexico and Canada annexed as territories of an expanding American Empire. Economic growth requires the young, tax-paying workers that Mexico can supply and Canada’s resources.
