Oil is no longer our only source of energy. The big buzz right now is hydrogen fuel, powered by cheap wind and solar. High temperature electrolysis and free energy from the sun or wind will provide a portable and easily replenished source of energy. The first conversion will be fixed installations like international airports. A new kind of hybrid automobile powered by fuel cells will much reduce battery size. We can go back to using our crude oil for axle grease.

Yeah, the time to find a new energy source to replace oil was 30 years ago, not now.
Wow, you know so little. All that's left is the heavier, more expensive and hard to get at oil reserves. The easy to get sweet crude oil is long gone. It costs a ton to extract oil from oil shale.
Oh come on now stop with the realism. Get with the sheep and lemmings, will you? Repeat to yourself until you believe it: oil is infinite, Earth's natural resources are bottomless, oil is infinite, Earth's natural resources are bottomless, oil is infinite, Earth's natural resources are bottomless! Say it until you freaking believe it!!!
The belief that infinite growth is possible in a finite realm is not merely one more fantasy on a stack of fantasies- it is the foundational fantasy upon which all the other ones are built.
