Is anyone surprised by this? I can't even get anyone to come out and bid on jobs that I already have the money set aside for. Local businesses and even some chain businesses are closing left and right. Restaurants can't stay open due to a lack of staff for various reasons.

I feel like things are getting pretty dicey financially. I hate it but feel pretty powerless.

I keep telling you for years here that REAL ECONOMIC GROWTH IS IMPOSSIBLE unless we allow DEFLATION to do its job, unless we allow defaults and bankruptcies to run wild and destroy all that bad debt we accumulated.

The FED needs to raise interest rates and allow this Zombie Economy, this Viagra Economy, thsi fake economy build on cheap money and debt to implode.
Everything was fake and phony. We don’t have real economic growth in America since 2001.

Good Luck!

There are many job openings and applicants can afford to be choosy.
You are competing with large corporations like TGT,WMT,COSTCO,which offer sign on bonus, college tuition reimbursement, better benefits and career growth

Why do people always default to people being lazy? lol Why is it that you're either a hard working middle class citizen or you are lazy and on the governments dime. lol

Can we please stop this inaccurate narrative? Perhaps employers should be more competitive with the Gig-working economy. People have had time to find other streams of income. I know tons of people who when laid off, decided to work for themselves.

I'm pretty sure the people out of work knew that unemployment would end and would have gotten a job before that happens.

Or do you think these people are so lazy that they don't even care if their benefits end?

I don't know what you do.

The enhanced benefits have been cut off here in TN for quite some time. Even then, "now hiring" signs are everywhere. Any sort of contractor/trade type work is booked out weeks, maybe even months, in advance.

My girlfriend came into an inheritance recently. She's been trying to get a plumber out to get an estimate on plumbing the basement in rural western NC for months now. You can't even get someone to come out and give you an estimate.

You are so right about this.

I feel sorry for my friend who is a contractor. She said that even paint stores are back ordered.

This is just a terrible situation.

I have an opening that closed last night, and was happy to get 23 applicants. It's entry level at $55-65k starting, and does not require experience or a degree, though both are "desired." The 8 that I'll be interviewing all do have experience, and all but one have a degree. We have another higher position in our department open now that pays $80-90k to start and are getting plenty of applicants. I think it's just those places paying less than about $25/hour that are suffering. They are mostly restaurants, but I have seen "Now Hiring" signs also at several supermarkets and retailers, gas stations and oil change places. All are in the $15-20 pay range, and no one wants to work for that any more. I don't know how Walmart thinks they are going to hire 20,000 people for the holiday season.

I stand by what I said. I had an issue a few months back with a local Wendy's and a 15 minute wait (at least) to get a cup of coffee, because they had almost no help.
