"Dependents" are just that according to the Internal Revenue Code -- dependent on someone else, therefore not the filer. Only filers are responsible for the tax return, not dependents. Therefore, only filers receive refunds, rebates, notices and audits.
We had our tax refund direct deposited. According to the IRS web site, if you used direct deposit for your refund then your stimulus check will be direct deposited as well. It also states that May 16th was the last day for the direct deposit to hit. We never received ours. I have tried to locate a number to call but the only number I can find is automated. Does anyone have a phone number I can call? Thanks for any info.
I had to pay taxes this year and since I paid them by an automatic withdrawal from my checking account, I thought I'd get a direct deposit, too, but it didn't happen. I suppose mine will be sent according to the check schedule.
Returning tax dollars to tax payers isn't "generosity". It's not "their" money! Why don't folks get this?!
LOL.... yes ofcourse.

Why do they call it a "stimulus check"? Do they want you to spend it on Viagra and porn?
It is supposed to stimulate the economy. Quite a few people will spent it right away. Mine is already gone. I used it pay for a trip that I was going to take anyway.
Hmmmm. I didn't realize they will post it towards my student loan. Now here is a question. My husband and I filed jointly, he doesn't owe money on a student loan but I do. Will they still apply the money towards my student loan?
