"Dependents" are just that according to the Internal Revenue Code -- dependent on someone else, therefore not the filer. Only filers are responsible for the tax return, not dependents. Therefore, only filers receive refunds, rebates, notices and audits.

It's doubtful. If she did not receive her regular refund from her tax return, she will not receive a stimulus payment either.

According to the irs website, if you owe money on student loans or child support they will apply it to the balance.

Does anyone have a phone number I can call? Thanks for any info.
I had to pay taxes this year and since I paid them by an automatic withdrawal from my checking account, I thought I'd get a direct deposit, too, but it didn't happen. I suppose mine will be sent according to the check schedule.

Returning tax dollars to tax payers isn't "generosity". It's not "their" money! Why don't folks get this?!

Why do they call it a "stimulus check"? Do they want you to spend it on Viagra and porn?

It is supposed to stimulate the economy. Quite a few people will spent it right away. Mine is already gone. I used it pay for a trip that I was going to take anyway.

Hmmmm. I didn't realize they will post it towards my student loan. Now here is a question. My husband and I filed jointly, he doesn't owe money on a student loan but I do. Will they still apply the money towards my student loan?
