I'm not much of a strip club or casino guy. Both can cost you a lot of money and I hate the cigarette smoke!

Covid/variants would keep me out of both places. I don't want to touch anything that several others have touched, I don't want close contact with strangers.

The last club I was at was full of ugly Eastern Europeans. I don't want to be hassled by gypsies "do you vant dance"? I used their kryptonite: I don't have any more money...................whew gone!

You would think that seeing stripers in person adds a quality to the experience that the internet can never do. The same with lap dances. But technology is very advanced with virtual reality and stuff. If they invent something that could give your stuff (man or woman) sexual stimulation in sync with the virtual reality you're seeing and strip clubs could see their lap dance feature greatly threatnened. lol

We're far away from VR being truly experiential - enough to substitute for a lap dance anyway.

The bottom line is that I think the wheels are falling off for discretionary spending. A strip club trip is totally avoidable if there are storm clouds in your own personal finances.

The 1950's called, they want you back. "Wifey" likely has a job herself and making her own car payments.

I don’t know. A lot of women rely on husbands income so they are not making money to buy a Mercedes themselves. I know very few women married driving high end cars making the payments themselves.
Now single successful women that’s different.

From what I hear, OnlyFans is hard work for minimal pay unless the performer is top 5%. But if you can make the top 5%, the floodgates open.

I don't know how the strip clubs in my area are doing.

semi related....

years ago wife and I used to attend auctions...many per week to feed our antique stores. auctioneers were still using the 'paper slip' method so one day during auction, I sat there and wrote real fast a database system to capture the slips, do checkout etc, maintain accounts and gave it to the auctioneer who incorporated it and saved beaucoup time.

I didnt sell it as my circumstances make that a paperwork nightmare so I juiced it up and published it with a GPL and put it out there. AFAIK the newer 'gavel buddy' out of cali uses my data engine. to help install it at people who used it, I only asked that I periodically get metrics, to see what 'antiques' were in vogue like: 'what do crocks sell at' type questions.

Doing this, I was able to track like snowmobile tracks in the snow, the downfall of 'furniture'. if anything, we gout out a few months late, but were were able to sell ALL The furniture in 4 stores in one day to one buyer for a fair price. we took that as writing on the wall and sent our 'junk' to 7 auctions to liquidate, closed 3 stores and converted the last to trains and stereos/records. While the plague was a massive boon for records and stereos - they bought them faster than I could restore them, trains, new in the box HO, N o etc were steady sellers and we got a warehouse to bleed off.

however, since march of this year - they have dropped to zero. We are in the process of closing the train store and heading it to auction, only I find that EVERYONE is selling their trains, such that our free warehousing we will use, poised for a sale at a later date. its all electronic auctions, online and they are bringing to the seller perhaps 30 cents on the dollar. Once you divest for a few gallons of gas or a pound of meat - its gone for good.

long story short, non essential 'savories' are dropping to zero. houses are not foreclosing any faster, cars are not being repo'd any quicker, but people are load shedding...when people forgo the silliest of personal treasures (be it watching a poor waif drop her kit, or play gomez adams around a train board) you know its about to be bad.
