Five pound bags of flour or sugar haven't been that in years from most brands; yet price has not gone down but opposite.

From cake mixes to canned foods and nearly everything else, size or number of servings has gone down, but prices have not or risen.

For households on tight budgets and or those with many mouths to feed or whatever reduction in portions or amount hits many ways. Where once you got six chicken thighs in a package it's now down to five or four

I picked up a can at Walmart a few days ago. Didn't pay attention, but it's the same 15oz as the others in the pantry. I've noticed bigger cans at the local Walmart, but not smaller.

How dare you use logic and reason to rebut the conspiracy theory that the government releases fake inflation numbers!

I did a Costco run yesterday.

The 5-pack of romaine lettuce at Costco that used to be $3.99 is now $6.99.
Ribeye steaks were $17.99/lb. I bought NY strip (choice, not prime) for $11.99/lb because we haven't had steak in forever. They were good, though.
Kirkland Columbian coffee $15.99/can. I remember when that same can was $7.99.
Costco brand canned tuna was the same price as the Bumble Bee - $16.99 for (8) 7-oz cans. Usually BB is more.

Hey, at least the hot dog is still $1.50 with a soda. sigh

As someone who's family is involved in Ranching....

You've not seen anything yet on the price of beef, pork, poultry. When the harvests hit this fall and get processed food prices and shortages will skyrocket.

Did you read the entire statement and the question that she was responding to? I don't see why anyone is balking at what she said. The headlines of course, are meant to stir.

It is the shrinkflation diet. Fewer calories. Less filling.

Why do so many people worry so much about what other people have, or make in income? Who gives a $_hit what this person makes?? It has ZERO bearing on what you make, I make, or anyone else here makes, or has. People should worry way, way more about their own situation, and way, way less about anyone else.

Spend less time worrying about the fabled 1% and way more time trying to move yourself up in the rankings!!
