I am a longtime Amazon stockholder but I hate buying from them because you can't check the country of origin when you buy. Don't get me wrong, I buy from them, but I hate that you can't check the country of origin before buying. Example: I bought a laptop charger for $15.00 from Amazon that costs $60 at Best Buy. Both are made in China so that was a wash.
Although if I needed it "now" I would have driven to Best Buy and paid $60.00 for it.
Yes “ need it now” for me means buying it locally. But often that also means cheaper. Amazon certainly does not always have the lowest price. It’s simply depends on what you’re buying.
I live out in the boondocks, and if I want to buy a new shower curtain or a sweater, it used to mean taking a whole day to drive to/from the nearest shopping mall, so online shopping has been very convenient. However, the quality of most merchandise, whether it be shower curtains, clothing, or household items, has fallen off so badly in the past few years that I'm about to give up on online shopping and make a trip to the mall so I can actually see what I'm buying. I probably waste more time and driving now on returns than I would with a trip to the mall every couple of months.
I hate shopping, and most stores don’t have what I am looking for anyway. I buy everything except groceries on Amazon. I don’t have Prime anymore, but I still get free shipping. I even buy toilet paper on Amazon. It’s delivered to my door and saves me the headache of picking it up.
I own the stock too.

You hit the nail on the head. A matter of cost and expediency.

Which is another thing, these days.......can we get back into Best Buy these days or do we have to make an appointment for what we want to be wheeled out to us?
For Amazon, you can find the country of origin in the question and answers section if it is not specified in the description. This was a concern of mine for quite some time. I spent a lot of time going through product pages just to get that information added. If it is not there, just go to the Q&A section and ask "What is the country of manufacture for this item?" Someone will usually answer. I hate buying products made in China, and avoid them wherever possible.
I learned you have to be VERY careful about 3rd party sellers on Amazon. Their reputation as a whole has gotten worse over the last few years particularly. I won't get burned again, because now I check the seller's page and read all the buyer comments before taking the plunge.
Third parties on Wal-Mart are worse than on Amazon. Note Amazon also backs up its 3rd party sellers with a money-back guarantee. I successfully got $ money back for non-delivery, even after the seller used a fraudulent "proof" of delivery. I give Amazon credit for their oversight.
Whenever an online item is the same price as brick and mortar, I always buy from brick and mortar. If not, I buy online for the best overall price.

What is another thing? I don't even know what your first "thing" is.

What? Best Buy has never been closed to shopping in the store. At least never around here. I have been in them several times in the last couple of years.
