What's a banknote?

So in a natural disaster, such as with the fires in Northern CA, it turns out you could not buy food, water or fuel with a credit card or phone due to technical issues. It was cash only. Also, do I want my every transaction to be monitored and traceable? It always feels a little weird to hand my credit card to a waiter and have him disappear into a back room with it. Just sayin'. I do cash for 99% of my eating out.

You can't hack cash.

The only reason for society to go cashless is to give the government access to every transaction one makes.

Isn't it nice to buy something without the government or the banks knowing? I sure think so. No cash = no privacy.

I am against it because in the event of some kind of major computer hack or computers being unavailable for any reason. (Worst case, I think, would be an EMP that would knock out electronic systems, including computers, for months,)

And, haven't any of you had a credit card declined for no reason other than a glitch? Or experienced the computers being off-line at a bank? I have.

What is the paranoia some of you have about the government or banks knowing what you buy?

Unless you're engaged in criminal activity, why do you think either one even cares?

I don't live in a legal marijuana state but I'm going to keep using it, regardless. When laws don't make sense, I violate them. They don't need to know. It's kind of how I believe speed limits are universally too low and violate them as much as I can get away with without getting pulled over. I don't need the nanny state holding my hand from cradle to grave.

Eventually I'll move to a state which has more roundabouts and legal pot so I don't have to violate the law or sit pointlessly at stoplights when nobody is around. For now, I need my cash.

You represent a great many people who think what they want is best and they should be allowed to do a s they please.

You still need a good Adult to guide you.

Now I agree on cash.
