CHARLESTON, W.Va. - When gas station manager Roger Randolph realized it was costing him money each time someone filled up with $4-a-gallon gas, he hung a sign on his pumps: "No more credit cards."
He may be the first in West Virginia to ban plastic, but gas station operators nationwide are reporting similar woes as higher prices translate into higher credit card fees the managers must pay, squeezing profits at the pump.
add me to the list that wouldn't buy gas from a station that won't take my card
the one I use gives me a 3% rebate on gas and I also pay the balance each month
so it is a win win situation
If you have nothing to hide why not pay with your credit card. I receive points and the only good thing coming from the higher gas price...is that I recieve my gift cards sooner, but I rather pay less and wait longer till I receive the gift card!!!!
I skip all the cash pumps!!!
Last week in Europe the stores were asking more clients to pay with credit cards, to avoid the shops from being robbed, since the more people pay with credit card the less cash they have so less crime, and by the way most banks are charging shops to pay to deposit cash (at least in Europe you have to pay to deposit cash amounts, so either way the make cost). Also the more credit card transactions the lesser percentage they have to pay to the credit card companies. Do the gas stations prefer to being a victim in crime or have the money automatic transferred in their accounts....? I know they don't ask to get robbed, but that is how society has become
I prefer to use credit at the pump these days since gas prices only defy logic and common sense. We, the customers, are continuing to get robbed by people in the oil industry. And the supply is there, but we're being deceived.
Now, on vacations, I've saved up enough cash that, in some places, I can occasionally use that at the pump to save me from a big balance.
paying with cash means you cannot be traced where you go. I prefer to pay cash. No ones business what I am doing!!!
I don't know about you, but I'm pretty sure no one gives a flying damn where I go, or what I do..! I don't have visions of black helicopters flying around my head.
I make every purchase with a credit card, gas, food, merchandise, absolutely everything, and then I have only one bill to pay at the end of the month.
