I am thin and I drink diet pop. It does not increase my appetite. I just look at it as something sweet to drink with zero calories. It has always worked for me.

Maybe, as another poster said, the very overweight think drinking the diet soda will somehow "melt off the pounds" or something. Or, that drinking the diet soda instead of regular somehow "offsets" that half gallon of butter pecan they are getting ready to eat.

I am thin and I smoke crack. And sometimes snort (diet?) coke and heroin. And once in a while, meth. I look at them as little pick-me-ups with zero calories. It always works for me, too.

What an ignorant comment.

I point out that thin people also buy diet pop and that diet pop is a good way to cut calories from your diet and you compare it to illegal drugs?

That's good. Maybe soda sales will continue to decline. Maybe there's hope that the obesity epidemic will abate after all.
