My husband has a small business and I do a lot of work for him, no other employees, I don’t have other jobs, so trying to get some social security retirement credit from putting the hours working for him. Instead of getting on a payroll process, like getting a Federal ID number and a state ID number, withholding the FICA tax, FWT and SWT.etc..anyone has any input in this area which my husband and I can file 2 schedules C during tax season and each of us file 50% ownership, including expense and business income, the self employment tax is what’s giving us social security credit and hence I will be able to get some social security credit if we file the business income this way. Thanks in advance!

If you and your husband are partners in the business, you may report the business income on a partnership return. Then you would each file a Schedule SE to report your earnings for Social Security purposes.
