You people are dellusional if you think gas is going to stay under $4/gal. It's gonna go back up to $5 whoever wins...

The wholesale price has fallen greatly recently this si why the prices have fallen. The low in our area is $3.51. There was a few days where the it jumped up 20 cents but it quickly fell and the prices didnt show the increase as the dealers didnt want gouging charges.

LOL... high gas price is making me high...
I meant to say it's going to go back to the upwards trend towards $5/gal, after the election.

I would not advise that. Remember that a SUV is a 4 to 7 year financing committment! You will be unable to sell it.

I would say that an SUV is a very good buy under the following conditions:

It will be used for local recreation only (hauling boats, major shopping, etc) and not as a commuter car.

A person can comfortably pay even up to $5-7 gas for said purposes and is not concerned about resale value.

Buying a SUV for recreation rarely makes sense. I know some people that bought to haul boats or whatever else. But you can easily and cheaply rent an SUV for a week for less than a single car payment. The average person doesn't go boating or whatever else nearly enough to justify the purchase.
