Never trust numbers... If you feel that have been in an economic rut for a while, the recession has already happened for you... Now if many people have been in an economic rut for a while, the recession is already here... so to answer your question, the recession IS here... but it hasn't been "bad" enough for it to be technically called a recession... it will get worse and I suspect it will get worse 2-3 months after the new president takes office... because neither of them even UNDERSTANDS economics... they rely on other people to tell them what to do... You can always rely on Americans to pick the wrong people to become president... they pick whoever gives them a bigger handout and in this economic turmoil... who ever gives the biggest handout wins... unfortunately, it is also a big loss for America... Why do Americans hate America so much?

When they tell us not to panic, we panic and when they don't say the truth, we go up in arms. They, the government can't win. You can never satisfy those who have to work for a living.

I too noticed in Spring of 2005. We have 7 kids ( most grown though luckily) and I usually spend between $2,000 and 3,000 at Christmas time.I don't have credit cards so that would be cash that I hoarded over the year. This year I am not doing Christmas. The youngest is 15 so it's not like I'm taking away Santa. It is really a choice to have food and be able to go to the Dr. or have Christmas!
