I suspect one of the reasons for our economy being so scary is most people do not trust our leaders, especially President Bush and his team. I suspect that just about everyone, Republican and Democrat is sick and tired of him and suspect he and his team are at least mostly at fault for the situation we are in.

If your candidate wins the White House, will you be more confident the economy is going to turn around and people's faith in government will return.

There is nothing better in solving a problem than new leadership!

I don't think that either candidate has all of the magic answers that are going to make the economy get better overnight. I think that the economy will be in poor shape regardless who is voted in.

All I know is this... I'd take Obama OR McCain over Bush any day of the week.

No. I don't think they have that much control over it.

Agreed... Obama will continue to overspend and McCain will continue to overspend.. Obama overspends more than McCain, however Obama will give tax cuts and McCain will also give tax cuts... McCain gives more tax cuts than Obama... so they each negate themselves... Obama overspends and gives less tax cuts... McCain overspends less and gives more tax cuts... in the end it doesn't solve anything... we need to underspend and raise taxes... Obama is catering himself to mostly low middle class and poor whereas McCain sort of caters himself to everyone, poor or rich... Obama is much more a socialist/communist but then McCain is myopic concerning foreign relations... neither have any real good "economic-sense" and will trust lobbyist... I mean, advisors with their own agendas concerning the economy... a no-win situation...

They've already cut the Fed rate so far, there's not much further they can go. If the bailout doesn't work, I don't see what options the next president has.

I think this post puts the whole situation in a nutshell!

You may not LIKE Bush (yikes, who does?) but he is not the cause of this whole mess. Really, he isn't.

I'm sure Bush would like to clean it all up on what's left of his watch, if only for his "legacy".

As for the 2 who are running, they also were not the cause, nor will they be the solution. It's a choice between tweedledum and tweedledumber. Rate them on their political merits, if you wish, but not on their economic merits. Neither one has any.

Some things just don't have anything to do with the president. This is one of them.

I'd have to say no. I've never seen the country more divided or conversations about politics more heated than with this election. I'm personally tired of the republican/democrat, conservative/liberal voting mindset. I like some republican ideas and some democrat ideas - neither party is 'perfect'. I'm tired of choosing the 'lesser evil' or the 'least clueless'.

I don't believe that it will matter who the president is. If the infighting among the powers that be doesn't stop and they don't get their heads out of their backsides, there's no telling when things will get better. It's like watching your kids blame each other for who broke the lamp when they both knew not to throw the ball in the house to begin with!

My candidate is not running, The problem lies not in the white house but Congress. They are the legislature and refuse to uphold the Constitution. Blaming a person or a few people is simply irrational. This mess has been decades in the making, and is our fault for allowing lawyers to make the laws of the land. The problem cannot be solved by the elite but has to come from the foundation of the nation, its people. Unfortunately there is no accountability to the people anymore. If Government starts regulating the fat cats more, and the little guys less, we would be out of the recession in 5 years.
