What is the best online Tax Preparation place? I used TaxSlayer last year but had a few issues. I'm looking for a reliable place that will actually get me the right information and send my SIGNED form in.
Preferably one that I can put my full time job W-2 in and also my small business info in.
Does anyone know where the best deductions for a single non home owner are found??
I use Turbo Tax and have never had any issues. Single non home owners are pretty much screwed for deductions unless your small business makes enough money to justify setting up an S Corp so you can deduct you medical expenses and shield some money from self employment tax.
Thanks for the information. I will file tomorrow for Federal. Any free places for State filing?
We don't have to file state tax in Florida, thanks to tourism, so it isn't an area I've ever had to deal with. Here is a link to a really good 2008 tax article that gives some specifics as to how you can match a free file company with whatever state you may in live.

Until I read about state taxes online, I forget how many people have to pay THOSE too. Eeek........
i just filed mine today !!! i wanna use turbo tax. but opted for tax act coz it is cheaper. federal was free. i paid $13.95 for state. it is soo easy. and it is my 1st time to do it too. i just had an email that in 3 days, they will inform me if IRS approved or rejected my efile.
I use Turbo Tax and I haven't had any problems. But while we're on the subject, what's with single people being discriminated against? I took Tax Accounting in college and one of the first thing we learned is that the government uses taxes/tax cuts to influence behavior. Therefore, one would assume that our government wants us to be married, because married filing jointly people get most of the tax breaks.
I have problems with the government trying to persuade us all to get married. With the divorce rate being around 50%, maybe they need to refocus. But, then again, I think we have bigger issues to tackle before that. But once the economy is on track and the war issues are settled, I want to stop being discriminated against because I choose not to be married. Dang it.
