Can any one tell me more about this card? I learned about it today when it was offered to me for free.

Thanks.

The best I could quickly find:

Centurion Card - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Whoa:

Quote:
The Centurion Card, popularly known as the Black Card, is a charge card issued by American Express. The Centurion Card provides access to a range of exclusive privileges. To become a card holder, an invitation into the program is needed from American Express. In order to achieve this one must meet American Express' strict criteria. Cardholders are required to pay an annual fee. As of 2007, the annual fee in the United States was $2,500, with a one-time $5,000 initiation fee for the first year.
You can also visit the Amex website. They reference it, but I didn't see any readily apparent information on how you can apply for one. So the statement above about having to be invited appears to be legitimate.

~Mike (has an invisible Amex card called the AMEX Phantom®...)

Yeah, but this is for the "truly wealthy," multimillionaires/billionaires and it's a charge card. So, I think that means you have to pay it back every month. Plus, the perks you get with it are well worth $2500/yr. WELL WORTH IT!

they offered me three!!

seriously though, if you got offered this for "free" and you are
not of wealth, i would think twice about the offer being
legitimate. it is pretty exclusive and the only people i've
ever known carry them around are rich celebs when i used to be
an E! junkie. i've never known any regular joe owning one,
though that doesn't mean they don't. i just know that it is
very exclusive.

$200k or 750k in the bank, does not really matter. If you pay $7500 first year and $2500 thereafter, you had better SPEND $100k -$200 - $500k/year with the card to reap the benefits of that fee.

Some people have $1M in the bank, yet spend $50k/year on living expenses. They would not benefit from this card.

I'd still be curious to hear it's benefits. I'm happy with my green amex getting cashback of $700/year.
