After reading that I have this sudden urge to just stare at my hand for the rest of the evening.
Contemplating the universe. Staring at my naval right now. Ooooooooommmmmmm.
We are gonna have about 12 months of crazy. Then the world will tilt back on its axis again. Life will go on. This will be a chapter in economics books.
To add on that the Monroe Connector Bypass (NC Turnpike Authority) will eat through our 10 acres where our business is located, so we have alot to ponder.
The land (paid for) was part of our retirement fund.
We are trying to decide between relocating (at Turnpike expense) or just completely selling out (also at Turnpike expense) and rebooting.
Otherwise, yes, the economy is in the toilet.
2009 will be interesting for me to say the least.
After contemplating this for a while . . . my answer is . . . we have become a consumer society. We have exported and outsourced our manufacturing overseas . . . we have become a people who use up and throw away.
This period of financial difficulty gives us all pause to re-evaluate our habits and what we put value on in our lives. Perhaps it was necessary for us to have to go thru/ these financial hardships to be jolted into reality - that we need to shift our focus and energies on conserving resources, recycling, and being good stewards with what we have been given, rather than racking up debt and being careless w/ material goods.
So I think that is what will be the end result - more enlightened people who value relationships and a more simple life.
