Wars are the ultimate indulgence for the politically insecure and hopelessly greedy. We need to stop the wars, completely revise military spending and put some emptionally secure people in charge. We have done the latter and now it is time to do the first two.
I think they will continue with both wars for a couple of years, then when it reaches a crisis point and it's obvious they can't continue, declare victory and leave abruptly.
In the long term military Empires never pay the full cost of their maintenance. Only at the beginning do they provide a profit for the Imperial power. Eventually they bankrupt the economy.
They will continue the wars till the rest of the world pulls the plug on their credit. I am wondering when China will finally say "enough is enough" and stop buying US debt. Then they could enjoy easier access to middle east oil.
War is a "make work" program for the military. They're not protecting us; they're bankrupting us. Let's cut the "support the troops" BS. It's really about "support the rich". More bread; less guns.

china signed a deal with iraq to develop the ahdab oil fields there, so they are on course for their own preservation. i still can't figure out the reason we went to war with iraq if it wasn't for the oil. (which we did not get). i don't believe for a minute that it was to "liberate" the people of iraq.

I was guessing places like Iraq/Afghanistan/Iran are good places to set up bases for the final confrontation in Central Asia for the remaining oil resources. China/Russia are allies in a sort of way to bother us and keep us from reaching these regions.

And when China says "enough", guess who gets to pay the bill??? hint: taxpayers - higher taxes.
