The sheer ineptitude and lack of control is a sad statement to how our government is run. I guess the name of the game is "loopholes for the rich".
snippet:
"In 2007, the GAO reported that the USDA had paid $1.1 billion in farm subsidies to more than 170,000 dead individuals over a seven-year period."
"The founder of an insurance company collected more than $300,000 a year in farm subsidies from 2003 through 2006 despite exceeding a $2.5 million income eligibility limit. The part-owner of a professional sports franchise got more than $200,000 a year."
"The GAO did not release the names, citing privacy rules, but said wealthy subsidy recipients were scattered among 49 states and that nine of the people lived overseas, including in Britain, Saudi Arabia and Hong Kong."
And the people that really could use the subsidies have to jump through so many hoops and can easily NOT qualify based on some obscure sentence.
I'm talking about the normal Joe who retired to a 20 acre hobby farm and wants to grow and market some vegetables and meat. This is who the farm bill should be helping..not professional sports owners who have some financial interest in a factory farm.
Happy, you are so right in my opinion. I nominate you for Dictator for the day(after me of course).
President Barrack Hussein Obama hired U.Caif Berkley Professor Christina Romer to lead the President's Council of Economic Advisors. I can't wait for her recommendations.
Happy, I'm a normal Joe and I can tell you we are in a recession eventhough it has not be proclaimed .My bank has stopped offering coffee in the lobby. My neighbors normal four trash cans have been reduced by two cans twice weekly and mine is down to one or two sacks. Yes my friend, we are in a recession. . Next stop, we will be going through trash hoping to find something of value.
what we are is broke:
Richard Fisher is the CEO of the Dallas Federal Reserve Bank and a member of the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC), which sets interest rate policy. In a speech in May of this year, he stated that the total U.S. debt – including Medicare and Social Security – is more than $99 TRILLION!
Along the same lines, Laurence Kotlikoff, a Boston University economist, suggests that the “fiscal gap” – which is the difference between the number above and what we could reasonably expect to collect – is $66 trillion.
Happy (continued), Here is her policy. Yikes. Start saving now for her tax package.
"Tax policy for the long run should have two major elements: first, a level
of revenue above expenditures in all except depression years which will permit
systematic reduction of the public debt; and, second, a tax structure which will
promote stabilized prosperity through adjustment of particular taxes to stimulate
or to check consumer expenditure or business expenditure as circumstances
require."
Pointing to some super-rich conglomerates is hardly fairly representative of people who actually work for their money, happen to be suddenly and randomly labelled 'rich' by Obama, and who never get a tax break or subsidy in their lives.

That is the definition of bankruptcy.
Those are just numbers. The gap will be filled by the actual quality of the services going forward.
I suggest eating well and exercise, that is your best social security and medicare, no matter what the socialists tell you.
