high suicide rates among rich ---- example catalina island
you spend a lota time to get to catalina you weed out a bunch of jerks finally you have arrived but in the morning you go to shave, in the mirror and you see him, darn you forgot one, and then take action.
I think nothing is sadder than a person who values their assets over their life. It's just stuff. Perhaps this lack of priorities is what got them in a financial mess to begin with. I feel sorry for people like this, but we all have to stand back, especially at times like this, and prioritize our lives. At the end of the day if we have our family intact and a loaf of bread to share....it is still good and filled with hope for a better future. You don't commit suicide in hard times....you stand strong for your family.
I think it's a matter of Ego. It's very hard to admit to making a mistake. When a person has no choice but to face up to bad choices, it can be unbearable. Especially if it also means a BIG reduction in assets.
It easy to think that people may be snickering at the bad luck/stupity/crookedness of it all. I think it would be more than a lot of us could take.
It is really sad when you see a billionaire who probably is now only worth millions committing suicide.
Talk about misplaced priorities. How many meals can one man eat, how many cars can one man drive?
It must seem like a long wat to fall when you are that rich. It kind of reminds me of the history of 1929 when people jumped out of building after wall street went down. I guess they couldn't accept the idea of being middle class or poor.
I think that every one who has lost money and is suffering financially lately takes it personally to some extent. Some kill themselves, others take to drinking, and so on
I think the worst thing is, people of that profile cant stand to lose all of what they have and it seems to take it the worst because of the fear of that they can never get it back, or they lose their self-dignity.
People need to realize, materials don't make a person, only themselves.
