Yeah..Buffet was all rosie about the future..grow your brains and the pie will grow.
Never a mention about the debt we owe.
I did notice yesterday that when pressed to "invest" in Lehman he bowed out.
LOL..if the future is so rosie why did he pass on such a great deal ?
Overall though I thought it was a good movie that shows what this country has done to itself in terms of debt. I took my son (17 yr old) and it probably did more good than any high school economics class.
It's hard to argue with Buffett because he's been so right for so long. However, I think he's deluding himself if he thinks we'll grow ourselves out of this.
Buffet let them wrangle his 130 million oz of silver away from him (rumor: it was used to start up Barclay's ETF, "SLV"), so he can play the game, too. They all say what will fly well politically, but what they do is a whole 'nother thing.

Amen. Does anyone actually believe T Boone is putting in a bunch of windmills? It's just a cover so he could secure land/water right of ways for all of the property he purchased in north Texas. The USA is the Saudi Arabia of coal. A major coal burner is on it's way. It's amazing the hoops you have to jump through just to secure property rights these days. Aren't property rights pivital in a free market society?

We will. Always have before and will again. Actually Reagan's deficits were far higher as a percentage of GNP than Bush's are. And by the late 90s they had all dissappeared and the budget was on balance and even had a nice surplus! The same will happen again once the economy revs up this winter.

The debt we owe is easily manageable. As a percentage of GNP it is really quite small. If we can grow the economy even at 4% a year- which should be easy- and hold spending increases, the deficit will be history quickly and then the debt will begin to go down as well.
It's not the best quality but it the full version of the movie.
