For what it's worth, I haven't heard this in the local Seattle media yet and they've been pretty good about opening with whatever major local employer is having trouble.
Well I remember a few years ago reading an interview in Wired or Fast Business with the CEO and his plan was to over expand and totally saturate the market to the point some starbucks would be in sight of one another. I knew then the guy was a total clown and didn't touch starbuck stock with a 10 ft pole.

Im my neighborhood in Houston this was the case. Two right across street from each other.
Starbucks just might disappear. There is so much competition in the coffee industry today. $5 dollars for a cup of coffee is extreme these days but their huge number of stores is weighing them down. They are just another industry which relied on the concept of premium pricing. They should take a look at Dunkin Doughnuts decision to offer a less expensive product as a means of drawing back the customers they have lost.

Same here. First thing in the morning, I just want simple easy to order cup of coffee and a splash of cream. Not 15 things to choose from.
