I think we should call them something cool.. Kind of like the Amero but with a California ring to it. I got it! Let's call it the Camero.
California holds back payments amid budget crisis | U.S. | Reuters
"Yo. Dude, I need some weed. All I got is 50 Cameros."
"Your Cameros are no good here! Come back with real money! Real weed for real money!"

Too bad there isn't a way have your employer not withhold your state withholding from your paycheck, giving you the cash and sending IOU's to the state.
Or use the IOU's to pay DMV fees, sales tax, property taxes, etc.

The people hurting are those who serve as vendors for the state (who tell their creditors what, we'll give you an IOU?), the people who depend on that refund and would like THEIR money back, and those who need the social services the counties provide. Not as much welfare where the aided are able to work but with abused elders and children and the disabled who have no other place to turn. What do you do, tell the pharmacy you'll give them an IOU?
Personally I think that as long as the state is putting things on "hold" that people have a right to put things like paying taxes on hold too.
And am so very glad I escaped in time.

You cannot escape reality when you socialize everything... eventually it catches up to you and punishes everybody that help create a system that serves the few....

Well, when the DO pay it back, they had better darn well tack on interest and "late fees" to give back to the people. Why should there be a double standard where late fees are concerned? If you pay your taxes late, you pay late fees. If THEY refund late, they should pay fees also.

So California is broke and can't pay its debts. So naturally the US government wants to follow California's lead and have a massive spending increase and increase entitlement programs out the wazzoo.
Ladies and gentlemen, the President's brain is missing.

The state is broke what else is new.... will they take an IOU if you owe taxes? Friday is going to an interesting day, many basic services such as the dmv and the edd maybe closed. No wonder many businesses and people are moving out. I have lived in so. calif for most of my life i believe its time to move on. I hope that the state of California can get there act together or there could dire things that may happen.
