According to the latest findings by the Bureau Of Labour Statistics, these are the lowest to highest rankings of unemployment. From what I noticed, college towns, especially where the largest more famous universities are, are consistently the lowest in unemployment. The metropolitan area with at least 1 million in population that has the lowest-Salt Lake City UT while Detroit MI has the highest.

so...Houston TX, where we will be going soon, #87 @ 5.5....better than

Santa Rosa-Petaluma CA, where we will be coming from, #202 @ 7.0

El Centro CA....#369 @ 22.6 !!!!! Holy Crap!!

This list surprised me. I did not expect the northern plains towns to have such low unemployment rates.

DC's unemployment rate is in good shape. I think it has the best unemployment rate among the big metro regions.

Want to chop unemployment? Just stop government payments for the unemployed. You'll also be able to get a shoeshine on the street and hire an American-born maid without paying a small fortune. And she will do windows.

As someone who is likely relocating to these areas i'm a little concerned.
