This would be a better solution to helping people between 62 and 65 who are laid off and on Cobra. Many people in their late 50's and early 60's just got tossed from their jobs and look to unemployment benefits and forced into early retirement have this additional burden of healthcare.

The reality is that healthcare costs money. It's all about money. Until we have some sort of Universal Healthcare to which everyone pays significantly higher taxes to fund, the current games regarding age-related eligibility, insurability, co-pays, and pre-existing conditions will be played by all the insurance and healthcare providers.

Cmon now, the Government is shelling out billions for everything else (foreign aid, to banks, bad mortgages etc), at least this helps people out, some of who did not contribute to this mess we're in, but could use help with healthcare, SS and unemployment benefits. With no jobs, especially for the over 50 group (age discrimination didn't help either), this should be a priority.

So you're forced out of work at 60, and you have to pay your own healthcare till 65, while State and Federal Employees get it paid for them with our Taxes. Doesn't this mean we are paying for Healthcare double?

They can get on Medicaid but that's means tested. The stimulus bill has a provision for the government to assist the unemployed to get temporary health insurance with subsidies (65%).

Im not defending any of that spending at all
I will never ever defend SS or agree that a single penny of mine should ever go into it- it is a despicable immoral ponzi scheme doomed to fail set up by another socialist pig which made him look good in the short term while dooming everyone in the long run when he knew he would be dead

Spend Spend Spend thats why we're in this god damn mess

For me an early forty Xers I and many of my friends know it will not be there when we retire. It’s a mathematical certainty. So why bother talk about it. We were scammed by the government. I don’t believe in the federal system or the ability for capitalist to be honest.

That woud just be putting more people in a system that is in deep trouble and has driven other heath care up because it does pay enough for servces. Private health care is subdizing the system of medicare;medicaid and thosethat don't enough as it is.Let teh stimulkus pay for it more than the money going to spcial interest so much.
