The major investment banks never paid $80k base salaries for first year analysts; it was $60-65k almost everywhere. Some banks actually increased the base salaries for 2009 to $70k or $75k (presumably this will result in some reduction in the year end bonus). Year end bonuses obviously dropped dramatically in 2008 from the 2007 levels and will probably remain low for several years.

you sure about that

I believe I have copies of offer letters stating differently, unless they are lying to me

I cant post it though because it is private information

but ah whatever

I always wondered what they are doing that requires them to stay so late

Interesting point. I'm not trying to be a smart alec, but what exactly are their primary job duties? Surely, they don't have a big input on what to sell and buy, right? Maybe it's just a bunch of paperwork. And maybe trying to get new clients to jump on board?
