I thought monopolies were bad for a free market. (interest, spend, dollar)

Parking meter rate hike sparks a rebellion :: CHICAGO SUN-TIMES :: Carol Marin (http://www.suntimes.com/news/marin/1488763,CST-EDT-carol22.article?plckCurrentPage=1&sid=sitelife.sun times.com - broken link)
75 year lease. That's interesting.
I find it hilarious that the people just decided not to park at the meters and just clog residential areas around the meters. I see this in Seattle A LOT. Not because the meters are high dollar; just because there is no easy parking to be found.
Iwajimaya/The International District comes to mind. Try to find ..wait.. try to drive there on Saturday or Sunday. It's a nightmare with people trying to grab a parking place. I'd be willing to bet 90 percent of the time you spend waiting to move is waiting for someone to exit or grab a parking space. Couple that with the pedestrian traffic....I rarely go there on weekends. I would if there was an adequate way to get in and get out.
