I'm not sure where to ask tax-related questions but here goes:
I'm planning on filing an extension. I owe taxes and will be paying it off in full with the extension form. My questions are:
1. When I'm ready to file my return, do I just use the "normal" 1040s and other forms needed to complete the return? Like, I don't think there's a "special" 1040 form to fill out in lieu of the "normal" 1040 - just want to make sure.
2. Also, do I need to include a copy of the check that I write now in the 1040 that I will fill out during my extension period? The IRS can double check my W-2s to see how much I paid in taxes but will they remember that I already paid them the remaining balance when I filed the extension and included the check?
