Here in NZ its 39 cents per dollar which is pretty brutal

I'm not sure how to figure out the whole thing if we're going to include all taxes (excise, sales, tolls, etc). The fed and state for my household is around 30%, but we have a lot of deductions with a new home and my dh being in college, so it's ~20%. Taking in all other taxes into consideration it's much higher.
