CNN's Newsroom, the anchor Betty Nguyen spoke with Money host Christine Romans about the economy. And Betty Nguyen said, "Hey, Christine! Explain this. How did we do in the first half of the year?"

ROMANS: We've seen a spring stock market rally that has been quite incredible! Job losses are slowing! Consumer confidence is improving! People are feeling a little better. They're feeling better because they're spending less. They're saving more money. They're getting back to basics. There's a new frugality that's making them feel better. There was a hu-u-uuge rally in the stock market in the second quarter. The stock market [is] telling us that it thinks things are going to get better eventually, and you're going to see that rally. If you are still invested in stocks -- if you had faith and you were buying stocks along the way this spring, you're buying them at cheap prices -- you're going to see that rally when you open up your 401(k) statement.-------"Total BS!!!"

The truth is that families, American families have lost 20% of their wealth since January of this year...

Understand that it is not an Obama news filtering any more than it was a Bush news filtering. The forces driving those slanted reports are in the boardrooms of the news media (like GE) and the big money that stands to lose if the shell game is exposed. Those forces took over much of the news back about the time that Cronkite retired, and have been making increasing inroads since then.

When Michael Jackson coverage on NBC news took up the entire evening news broadcast with the exception of about a two minute gloss of the other news, it is fairly obvious that "news" has turned to "newspeak."

I thnik the best indicators of what people are seeing and preparing for is the incresing savings arte. It does matter what teh media says pweople are going to judge for themselves by what they see;experience and make thier own judgements.Few people relly buy into teh media hype when they see what is happenign around them and use their common sense.Bascailly if they don't see teh beff;they ain't buying the burger no matter what the ads say.

When Elvis or John Lennon died, I bet you they took up 2-5 minutes of the evening newscast.

They should be devoting their whole broadcast to Bernanke, the FED, "The Maestro", Mr Greenspan.

Those green shoots must have died. Unemployment now over 9% from government, over 20% from shadowstats (6/5 numbers).

I still do not see the effects of this stimulus.

Well, predicatably, the Great Obama will take the stage again today to tell us why things are so great, in spite of these new unemployment numbers. Didn't he say the other day "the stimulus has done its job" ???
