texdav...If there was money to pay it, I would. I AM paying for her funeral because I do believe that is my responsibility. This nursing home is lucky I don't have the money to sue them which they deserve. I'll give you one example, my mom called me one night, around midnight, asking me to call the front desk and ask someone to please go to her room and take her to the bathroom. She called me back 15 minutes later and wanted to know if I had called because no one came to her room! There were nights when they left her in the bathroom for 30-40 minutes. She begged me to stay quiet, which is not in my nature, because she was afraid of the staff. I visited her every day, staying as long as they would let me, so she would feel safe. The night shift at this place was horrible. I tried to get her out of there and back home with us but they would not release her. So now I have to live with this for the rest of my life.

I didn't say pay you pay it but cooperate with them to see if medicaid will pay them.If you need to report them to the state then do so;that will keep others from this same treatment. But if they have to eat the moeyy that will just mean that others there will not get as lessor staff etc.I also think you should have gotten legal advice because it would have taken a court order for them to keep her without her permission. Without her being mentally out of it that would not have occurred. You actually could have walked out without a release of any kind unless the law had taken responsibilty for her decision making already. Rememeber that you made the bect decison you could at the time on the infroamtion you had and knowledge you possessed and that is all you could do. Everyone has decisions they wish they could take back and regrets . There is always that what if I had thing; but that is not what life is like.God Bless and good luck
