Can someone help me out here .... o.k. i'm closing out my checking account with BOFA as once i used up the last bit of money in my checking i was going to close my account with them as i've gone with another bank locally. So i'm down to 6.00 dollars and so i figured i go and get gas for my auto this morning with my BOFA check card and just use up the last 6.00 dollars and close out my account with them on monday and throw my check card in the trash. Well to my surprise it didn't stop at 6.00 dollars automatically but when on to fill up my auto at 30.00 dollars as i'm now 24.00 dollars in the hole with them now.

Question is ... what will happen now, Should i contact BOFA or will they just send me an invoice for 24.00 dollars and possibly charge me an overdraft fee???

Thanks !!

Can you put $24 in your account before the charge posts or has it already posted?
They'll charge you a $39 or more over draft fee. You can request the fee to be waved but I am not sure if the will be willing to work with you.

You are now overdrawn ;so check on your contract to have the account. Most likely a fee just like a bounced check that they cover.

Wow... first the guy who didn't make a payment on his car for 3 years who was shocked his car was repo'ed. And now this guy KNOWING he only has $6 and is amazed when the gas just keeps coming out of the pump, as if the pump knew he only had $6.00 left in his account.

Let me guess, you voted for Obama thinking he would magically pay all your bills and take money from the "rich" and give it to you?

The verification of the card is done before you actually pump the gas, so some places will arbitrarily reserve a large charge on the card, and other places will just place a nominal charge on the card, and then once the actual debit hits the bank a few days later the correct charge shows up.

When I use my debit card at the pump the only charge that is immediately made to my checking account is $1. This is most likely what happened to you. So it would seem you have time to make a $24 deposit to cover this before any overdraft charge kicks in.
