I am just wondering how important GPA is when I go to look for a job. I a graduate student of Electrical Engineering, my current GPA is not high, it is just 3.2
I a worried about that this GPA affect my job hunting, so if you have experiences of finding a job, please tell me some of this. Thank you so much
I haven't found it to be that important. It seems like 99% of the decision is based on how they feel about you after the interview. I know all the resumes they showed you probably had GPA's on them, but I would leave it off. I don't think anyone puts it on there after a year or two of experience, so why use it at all.
I had a similar GPA to you and was worried about it a little. I then realized that nobody really puts them on their resumes here. The fact that you have a degree is all they usually care about.
I agree with TXRunner. My GPA was horrible, but I rarely got asked what is was. It is easier when you get a couple of years under your belt. They care only about your experience and that you have a degree. I would leave it off your resume.
However, it is nice to be able to fall back on your GPA if you have no experience. But if it is low, and you have no experience, try to focus on any accomplishments/projects at school that really stood out.
I know some schools here in Minnesota sort applications by GPA.. 3.8 and better make the first cut... because of the vast number of applicants. More often it's the interview and if you have what they are looking for-- such as coaching abilities, extra curricular activities, willing to chaperon school dances...that type of thing... (take a class in coaching if you can!)

Since when do electrical engineers have to chaperon dances and be coaches?
