Aside from college/university education, taking extra courses by my own, is a good idea? For example, I am taking a course of programming in C/C++ in an academy. Worth it? What do you think?
More knowledge can never be anything but an asset. But bear in mind that a computer skill not applicable to your job may not translate into improving your performance or more opportunities to advance. On the other hand, the intellectual stimulation is always a plus.

Probably, but you should get a C compiler to use on your computer and a book with lots of examples to run on your own.
Thank you for your answers. We do have to work hard at home, we have a lot of exercises, around 20 per week. (and we have a compiler).

If you are in IT, you go full out! You train to become a full LAMP stack Linux software engineer. And all of this is FREE and online.
Anything useful I learned was learned on the job or by myself. Upper ed was mostly bong hits, gobblegook; drink, date and mate at a time before all the campus toxic crazy happened, and generally wasting time.
It was a lot of fun although the tech major I had got in the way. Crazy but all the pro jobs the most important thing was getting along with others and fitting in with the existing culture, tech competence was a given. Companies don't want eggheads socially, but never stop studying a good thing.
Yes, it is useful. If you out and learn something which is beneficial to you.
