I would love it if my school did that. For me it's along the same line of going to college in the morning and having all day to do stuff vs sleeping in, but having no time afterwards.

Most rural area don't have daycare center per-say. Kids are kept on the farm/ranch with there parents. Or in Home/Family daycare situations.

My kids' high school had two block days a week, Weds and Thurs. Weds was late-start day (~9AM instead of 7:30). The time from 7:30 until 9 was used for various teacher meeting time/prep time/tutoring time. On Weds they had double periods of 2nd period, 4th period and 6th period classes, and on Thurs it was double periods of 1, 3, 5 and 7.

My school is regular classes. We have 44 minute classes, 5 min between each class.

Some classes are a semester long (economics, health), some are year long but alternating days (gym) and the rest are year long. My school lets you double up, so if I wanted to be done with gym by January I would've taken it twice every other day or once everyday. Once core classes are done we don't need to stay all day.

I'm in school from 9:05-1:30 or 10:00 to 1:30 (A/B Days)
