I am the president of our PTA and we are providing snacks for the kids during State testing. We are a elementary school. As a parent, guardian or teacher, what kind of snacks would you like to have us provide the kids?
"Trail Mix, granola bars, Nutrigrain bars, cut up apples, yogurt, Apples, bananas, oranges, 100% fruit juice boxes, carrot and celery sticks, string cheese, or fruit leather."
What the?!?! That sounds like what kids would get for Halloween in Hades! Why not just give them tree bark and sawdust? Whatever happened to some good old chocolate chip cookies, peanut butter balls and Karmelcorn (anyone remember Karmelcorn?)

Those suggestions sound good and they are healthy. Feeding kids chocolate chip cookies and peanut butter balls is why childhood obesity is out of control these days.

No - that's not why childhood obesity is out-of-control . Childhood obesity is out-of-control because the parents use TV and video games as baby sitters and children live a sedentary lifestyle. Schools don't encourage physical activity at recess or PE class. In fact, some schools decided PE is useless because the children could actually be learning something.

I have to say I really hate this emoticon It's really insulting.
I don't dispute any of the reasons you listed, but a junk diet is also part of the problem.
