Thanks, Pvande.
I like that one too (I posted a link earlier.) It's good to know who wrote it!

Since I was in band and then wind ensemble in college, I have attended well over 20 graduation ceremonies at the high school, undergraduate, and graduate levels. The best one I heard was by President HW Bush. His ranks above one given by Bill Cosby! It was funny and inspirational.

I thought the commencement speaker (Julianna Baggott) at my graduation a week and a half ago was really great! She was genuinely funny and gave a good message, I thought she was better than the other recent speakers like Lee Corso and Tony LaRussa. If you skip halfway through the video in the link, you'll hear part of her speech, it's not the funny part, but she's clearly a great public speaker.

Thanks for sharing, CaptainHug & TriStateLove...
I want to look into those.

I just listened to one given by Lisa Kudrow (of Friends), which I think is very encouraging as reminders to not give up in the face of opposition... and of course some humorous touches...

Default How to Spot an Idiot

Old thread, new input.

The Commencement Speech at the Northwestern University Class of 2023 by Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker is wonderful and worth reading.

Press coverage is here.

Read his speech here.
