The original post was the op's last contribution to this topic.
I get the feeling we are wasting our time offering further advice.
Methinks this was a set up by the OP, but maybe he/she went out of town or something. At any rate, this thread is available for others interested in job hunting strategies.

Maybe we've motivated him to actually go out and look for a job...
For real, how many more threads like this can people make?
Anyway, an education is definitely worth it. It doesn't entitle you to a job, but it's one of a few essential things to have on your resume along with experience and ambition. Good interviewing skills are important, too.
When people say "education" do they really mean "schooling"?
Couldn't we create a great National Recommended Reading List and make a lot of "education" possible and dirt cheap at the same time? And then for certification people just need to pass tests. We make a big deal of testing for Common Core. Why shouldn't people get credit hours if they just do well enough on the right tests? Demand that they score at least a B. What would you bet that suddenly a lot of people would learn they could do that, and in less time than schools give the courses?
How many teachers and educational institutions would be up in arms over that idea.
I have a Master's degree in Computer Security, and still I do not have any job. Many of the times I feel like I wasted my time in going to school, if I cannot find a job anywhere smh!
An education is definitely worth it as long as you know why you want it. It's worth becoming educated just to be educated even if you're independently wealthy and don't need to work but if you use college as a trade school so you can have a high paying job, then it's important to research the field you're going into. If the purpose of education is to have a particular job, then it's worth it only if you can get that job.
Jeez, The Art of Electronics is over 20 years old.
