If you could homeschool your kids without having to worry about money or a job, would you do it?
I don't have kids but if I ever do I would consider homeschooling them. Public schools today are out of control. That 'zero tolerance' nonsense, too much kids getting involved in sex and drugs at younger and younger ages, Tests, tests and more tests. Common Core? No thanks. The Government will not control my future kids' education.
I went to public school and hated it. Homeschooling allow you to work at your own pace. Anyone who says parents are sheltering their kids and keeping them in a bubble are ignorant. There are plenty of places to make friends by joining bowling leagues, homeschooling groups, local sports, enrichment classes, volunteering, etc.
Nope.
It was a choice when I had kids of that age.
Our public school was (and continues to be ) excellent. The kids fared better there than they would with me.
I would never ever home school my kids. One of the biggest parts of going to school is interacting with others. If you talk to your kids about sex and drugs one on one, there's a better than average chance they won't "partake". I have 2 boys who are now out of college, never did drugs, didn't drink till in college. I'm proud of both of them.
Just because you hated public school doesn't mean it's bad for everybody.
I know plenty of families on Oahu that homeschool. I have family there and a cousin of mine home schools one of her children, though the other child goes to a private school. The situation is working out well and since my family are local, they have family and social networks that provide enough socialization. Different strokes for different folks!
I will also add that when it comes to the topic of homeschooling, there is a general feeling of uneasiness with it. This is ironic since homeschooling is a very "outside the box" alternative. My kids go to public school, btw.
NEVER. I dont do surgery on myself. I dont do my own dental work. Absolutely not.
Oh yeah, leave it to the "professionals" right? The same professionals that are abusing and raping kids more and more these days? The same professionals that read straight from the textbook? The same professionals that just pop a movie in the VCR and call it a day? Yeah, ok. Don't compare education to surgery. Anyone can get some education degree. Not everyone can become a doctor, it takes years and years, rotationships, residency, etc.

Shouldn't one of the biggest parts of going to school be learning? There's plenty of activities and clubs outside school available to kids, as I have already mentioned.
If done correctly, yes. I've met people who were homeschooled who are exceptionally bright, talented and personable. I've also met people who were homeschooled and who are very poorly-adjusted and not nearly at the academic level of their peers who attended public or private school. It is a huge commitment and must be well thought-out. Equally important as the education itself is the socialization factor, as school is typically one of if not the most important agent of socialization for children. Basically, the kids should not be spending all day every day at home. The parents need to make sure they are interacting with other children whether it be through sports or other extracurricular activities. Otherwise there may be a risk of problems down the line.

LOL!
Like drama much?
Just because you had trouble with teachers does not make all teachers bad...
