Our PTA is struggling with managing volunteer opportunities. We tried this year to use MailChimp for the mailing list and Google Docs for sign ups, but it hasn't worked very well. We'd like to find an integrated piece of volunteer management software (or software as a service) that enables us to manage our mailing list and make opportunities available. It would be a bonus if we could also track volunteer hours.
If one searches online, there are an almost infinite number of small scale apps, many of which seem to have been developed by a parent dealing with the same challenges we face. However, it is hard to tell which ones are actively being used and which ones are even still being actively marketed and maintained.
So does anyone have a volunteer management product that is used at their school that they really like?
I don't know how well it works because I haven't seen it on the other end, but mysignup.com is a place you can check out for signing up volunteers for specific events.
Our district uses virtual volunteer to log hours. It must work well because they have kept it for several years now.
