These are terrific. Never underestimate the power of social media.

"What if" the idiots who come up with these "reforms" actually had to implement them as a teacher in a real classroom in a struggling school for at least a year first?

Oh, that's right. Arne Duncan has never taught and has never been a certified teacher.

I don't have a twitter account, but I went to his and read as many comments as I could. It's pretty funny.

What's not funny is what a complete muddle-headed dolt Duncan is about education.

Hashtags from the political class seem to be such an easy target nowadays . The hijackers are doing good work and are not only rebutting Duncan and the status quo but are also spreading much better ideas for education than the establishment has to offer, so hats off to them for a job well done .

Seriously, Duncan's what-if does have merit assuming one has a sound ideology concerning what constitutes success (in my view Duncan doesn't but the hijackers do). That said, it raises my level of hope to see that almost any of the common people's dreams for education would be a noticeable improvement over the dreams currently guiding it.

Don't forget that Arnie was the golden boy of the Chicago school system under little Dickie Daley. I think the graduation rate was somewhere in the 60% range under him. Plus, he plays basketball with Obama.

I don't know which is worse, the original tweet or the dim-witted responses.

Some of the responses are quite good though.

My favorite: "#whatif the DOE committed both to identifying what made their 5 worst reform initiatives failures & removing them from schools?"
