These two weeks, the contestants on Jeopardy are all teachers.

Did you have any teachers whom you thought could have been successful Jeopardy contestants?

Quite honestly, I don't think any teachers I ever had demonstrated that kind of general knowledge. Maybe Mr. Casper, my English/Latin teacher could have given it a good shot.

The other thing you don't know is how they would perform with the answer time constraint even if they had overall knowledge. Even the smartest people get brain freeze in front of an audience or camera.

Teachers perform before an audience every day -- a highly judgmental and unforgiving one. Stand-up comics would call it "a tough room".

Unfortunately, as we get older what we may feel is funny, would just get blank stares from audience.

It's kind of like telling a joke to a very elderly person except in reverse. After you have to explain to them why it's funny, it's too late.

I can think of a couple teachers from high school that would probably do OK. There were some pretty sharp characters I had for professors in college that I'm sure would do real well. Almost as well as Rosie Perez.

My high school physics teachers dream was to be on Jeopardy. She went to a tryout and was selected to be a contestant. But just a week before the show was to be taped she passed away.

I had a high school teacher who was on Jeopardy back in the 80s. Funny thing was I never thought of her as super smart; she taught classes such as drama and speech. She didn't win, but it's very impressive just to be on the show.

I've had classmates teach a class because the teacher was so incompetent. I'd wager some of my classmates/friends could do well.

One of my English teachers WAS on Jeopardy. IIRC, he lost on the final question, "what letter of the alphabet doesn't appear in any state name)". Can't remember how he did overall.

Odd, as I think that's a pretty easy question.

It's just so trivial and bizarre though....you could not get it.

But hey....it's a trivia game!
