High school graduation can be a trying time for teenagers.

Prom dates and prepping for college-entrance exams tend to fill the calendars of most soon-to-be graduates. Their schedules don't typically include meetings with the Texas governor.

Students have already taken college entrance exams far in advance of graduation. They take them in the fall semester, or their junior year, even.

Pointless. What the hell are 8 associate degrees going to do for you. It's not like someone's going to look at your resume and decide, Oh! I'm going to pay this person more than everyone else with the same job. It must just be for prestige or something, not to mention it was probably a pretty penny to get 8 degrees that will never be used in the next few years. The kid will eventually have an advanced degree soon anyways.

Found the content of his degrees:

16-year-old earns eight associate degrees in high school | KXAN.com

Quote:
His degrees are in liberal sciences, computer science, electrical, mechanical, biomedical, telecommunications, software and computer engineering and mechanical engineering.
I have to assume there is overlap in the courses he took for these although he began taking courses in 7th grade according to the article.

He got a full ride scholarship to UT Dallas and wants to go into biomedical engineering.

UTD is a good school, but you would think that he would have garnered more attention, like from SMU, UT, Rice or A&M. A bit of a snub in my opinion.

you can get a full ride without AAs... he was smart enough to get AA in highschool, meaning he would have been smart enough to figure out how to get college paid for without loans. If he wasn't, then he goes into debt.
