Did you win an award, you know, like most popular, most likely to succeed etc?

For me, When the awards committee was discussing who to put where, we had a big school so there were a lot of choices, there was an award that came up and EVERYONE looked at me when it was announced, i was unanimous choice for 'shyest'. Here's the thing, i was probably 3rd or 4th 'most quiet' in the senior class, there were kids so shy nobody even knew they existed, so with me, i was kind of the 'popular shy kid' that people had actually heard of and knew and liked, i knew i was going to win this even though i knew of kids that deserved it more.

At the time, i felt it was an insult and went home and told my parents 'i got voted shyest and i'm kinda pissed about it" and my mom said "take the award because years down the line, you'll be happy you got into the awards category in your yearbook" and you know what? she was right, i'm glad i just accepted it and didn't make a stink.

What i DID do is wanted to 'prove' that i wasn't really the shyest, so i exploded in a rage and was the most 'boisterous' person in the entire school, i made it a point to be the most outgoing kid there, i went crazy to 'prove them wrong' i even overheard one person say inquisitively "he's the shyest? how did that happen"

any good 'yearbook' stories?

In my middle school yearbook I was voted for having "best hair". At 18 the male pattern baldness set in.

I also won the award for "shyest" which was funny because there was at least one girl WAY more quiet and shy than I was. Like you said, the real "winners" of the award were the people that everyone forgot about.

Other than a picture of you leaning against a locker and the caption saying "shyest", what sort of "award" is this? Are we talking a major award? I mean your Mom said you'll look back on it years down the line and that you were in an awards category. So, this was actually a big deal at your school?

They were called senior superlatives, and it was just a page in the yearbook. No, not a big deal at all and no "award" beyond having an awkward picture taken.

I was "best actress."

It was a small school, the bar was low.

My graduating class had around 1000 kids in it. We didn't have senior "awards."
